TALKING SHOES with GeeksndFashion

Julia Lang, the creator of fashion blog GeeksndFashion, fills us in on the story behind her idea and what inspires her unique style.
Explain the moniker GeeksndFashion. It’s not a huge secret that I am into Fashion, I love it to pieces. Having a blog is a nice way to share my passion and to inspire other people all over the world. Having a blog is fun, but there is also a lot of hard work behind it. Networking has become a huge part of my life. People who spend a lot of time on their computers are called “nerds” or “geeks”, so I thought it would be a funny and tricky way to combine both worlds. And there we go… “GeeksndFashion” was born.
What inspires your styling? That’s a hard one… because my style is inspired by so many different things. Of course I catch a lot of inspiration from the runway shows, from other blogs, and people around the world on the streets, but I am also inspired by music, art and the people I love. That’s why under my banner you can find the phrase…”We are shaped and fashioned by what we love.”
What is your favorite place to shop for unique finds? I have to say that I buy the most adorable and unique stuff online. My latest find is an online shop from Sweden called “Modekungen“. I also love Spanish Moss, where I could actually buy every single piece because it’s sooo my style – alittle bit Indian inspired. They also have a Vintage section..what is great!!!
What typically wins you over – flats or five inches? Back in the day, flats were winning for sure but since I have been living in NYC, I got use to wearing five inch heels during the day. It feels kind of like a sport. Your legs get stronger, but it’s sexy at the same time.
Tell us about your favorite shoot you’ve done thus far. That’s tricky… I do shoots almost every day for my blog. But the biggest honor so far was to be shot and covered on Vogue Portugal’s blog. The picture they published of me is beautiful and it still gives me goose bumps to have been a part of Vogue – I’m praying for more things like this.
